Palas de Rei to Melide

A theme that has emerged is to match kilometre post to age. However we have decided we can't face the trek back to Trevor's.

The strange construction is a typical Galician corn store - designed to keep produce safe from rats and mice.

Finally, it seems the scallop shell hanging from the rucksack, as a symbol of the pilgrim, is rapidly being replaced by a pair of damp socks. Internationally recognised and speaks volumes.

The daily routine is settling into something like:- wake (7:00); breakfast; walk; lunch; walk; arrive and register at albergue; wash socks, t-shirt and underwear; shower; rest; eat; sleep; repeat. The albergues help impose this routine by closing at 08:00, re-opening maybe 14:00 or 16:00, doors locked and lights out 22:00.
